PRESS RELEASE:
Early Light Rail Trains Get You to the Starting Line on Time
BALTIMORE, MD (October 17, 2025) – Whether you’re lacing up your running shoes or cheering from the sidelines, the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration is excited to support all participants at the 25th annual Baltimore Running Festival. The agency will offer additional Light Rail service, providing two early morning trains from Hunt Valley departing at 5:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Regularly scheduled early morning trains from Glen Burnie/Cromwell will depart at 4:58 a.m., 5:28 a.m. and 5:58 a.m. Attendees can view transit schedules and plan their trip by visiting www.mta.maryland.gov.
“Taking transit is the easiest way to be part of the excitement of the Baltimore Running Festival,” said Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold. “By using Light Rail, Metro Subway, and Local Bus you can enjoy the day while avoiding the stress of traffic and high parking fees.”
Light Rail and Metro Subway are the best ways to get to the starting line for the 5K and Half Marathon at Pratt and Light Streets or the 10K and Marathon at Russell and Camden Streets. The Baltimore City Department of Transportation will implement road closures, affecting several CityLink and LocalLink bus routes. These closures will occur around key festival areas, including Camden Yards, Druid Lake, St. Paul Street, Canton, Fells Point, Federal Hill, Patterson Park, Lake Montebello and Maryland Avenue. Bus riders should plan accordingly and expect travel delays due to these detours.
The Maryland Transit Administration recommends race attendees use the CharmPass app to conveniently pay their transit fare. The Transit app will provide trip planning and real-time arrival information, service alerts and detailed step-by-step navigation for all Local Bus, Light Rail and Metro Subway services. Both apps are free to download
The Maryland Transit Administration is one of the largest multi-modal transit systems in the United States, operating systems that include Local Bus, Commuter Bus, Light Rail, Metro Subway, MARC Train Service and a comprehensive Mobility paratransit network. Our goal is to provide safe, efficient, and reliable transit across Maryland with world-class customer service.
