About the Project

The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is studying bus stops in the Towson area for improvements and potential development of a Towson Transit Hub. We kicked off this project by meeting with Baltimore County staff and officials, local institutions, community and business groups, and property owners in the project area.

MDOT MTA has identified the preferred location (along Fairmount Avenue, north of the Towson Town Center mall) based on site visits, public and stakeholder outreach and additional analysis. We are now engaging the public on desired amenities at the preferred location.

Comment and Participate

The public survey helped the project team better understand what kinds of improvements would make Towson bus stops better. The survey closed on August 1, 2021. Contact the project team at transitpriority@mdot.maryland.gov with any comments or questions or to request a briefing. The project will be coordinated closely with ongoing and related efforts such as the North-South Regional Transit Corridor Study and implementation of Baltimore County’s new bus service The Loop.
