Legislatively-Mandated Fare Increase: The law mandates that when the Consumer Price Index for all Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increases over the prior five years, MDOT MTA must increase Commuter Bus and MARC Train fares to the nearest dollar. Based on the legislatively mandated formula, Commuter Bus and MARC one-way fares will increase $1 effective June 27, 2021. Fares on these services vary by zone. Riders can find information for specific routes at mta.maryland.gov. (see new fare by zone below)

Commuter Bus – New Fare Products: MDOT MTA offers two new fare products, 3-Day pass (6 Trips) and 10-Day Pass (20 Trips) to match the flexible commute and work schedules. The new Commuter Bus fare products will only be made available on the CharmPass app. The new fare products will be offered at 15% discount with an expiration date of 12 months from the date of purchase. The proposed fare policy will go into effect on or about Sunday, August 29, 2021.

Commuter Bus - Full Service Resumption: As the COVID-19 recovery continues across Maryland and onsite workplaces reopen, the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will resume full scheduled service on all Commuter Bus routes effective Monday, August 30.
