Description:

The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) recently announced that the service adjustments proposed on September 1 for Local Bus, MARC and Commuter Bus will not be implemented and all public hearings on that plan will be canceled. Core Local Bus and MobilityLink service in the Baltimore area will continue to operate on current schedules while Commuter Bus and MARC service will begin operating at reduced levels on November 2. The decision to make this adjustment is due to current of ridership trends across the modes and the significant public feedback MDOT MTA received on the initial proposal.

As MDOT MTA works to meet budgetary constraints amid the fiscal impact of COVID-19, the agency will continue to prioritize transit service for core riders, especially transit dependent households. Effective November 2, MDOT MTA will resume the following service levels, which were in place earlier during the COVID-19 health emergency:

MARC Train will operate on an enhanced R service schedule service. For Brunswick Line passengers, please refer to the R schedule grid on the right side of the Brunswick Line timetable. In addition, the following trains will operate or extend service in addition to the R schedule:

Train 872 (5:00am departure from Martinsburg) will operate and add stops at Dickerson, Boyds, and Garrett Park.

Train 877 (4:55pm departure from Union Station).

Train 875 (4:25pm departure from Union Station) will extend service to Harpers Ferry, Duffields, and Martinsburg.

This plan allows MDOT MTA more flexibility to respond to changes in transit demand as Maryland’s economy recovers. Riders needing more information can visit mta.maryland.gov/coronavirus or call the Transit Information Contact Center at 410.539.5000.

Thank you for riding MDOT MTA.
