A message to MARC Camden Line customers--
CSX Transportation, which owns and dispatches the Camden Line, continues to experiencing severe freight train congestion, particularly between Dorsey and Camden Yards. CSX management is actively working to address these congestion issues, but it will take time.
To improve service reliability and train performance, MARC Train will implement the following temporary schedule adjustments from Monday, September 19 through Friday, September 30. These adjustments will enable riders to better plan their daily commutes and consider alternatives ahead of time.
Suspended Service:
--Train 841 (5:00am departure from Camden Yards to Washington).
--Train 840 (6:32am departure from Washington to Camden Yards)
--Train 857 (5:20pm departure from Camden Yards to Washington)
--Train 858 (6:55pm departure from Washington to Camden Yards)
Other changes:
--Train 843 (5:30am departure from Camden Yards) will add a stop at Greenbelt
--Train 852 (4:43pm departure from Washington to Camden Yards) will resume operation
The following additional alternatives for Camden Line customers will be offered through September 30:
-- MTA Commuter Bus routes 305, 315, 335 and 345 will honor all MARC tickets and
-- Passengers can park for free at the BWI Rail Station garage where they can take the Penn Line.
In order to receive free parking at BWI, passengers must follow these procedures:
--Enter and exit the facility through Garage 1 ONLY, do not use Garage 2. If you park in Garage 2, you will have to pay to exit.
--Collect the parking ticket when you enter and be sure to save it.
--When exiting through Garage 1, you must go to the cashier, you cannot use one of the automated gates.
--Present your parking ticket and show the attendant your Camden Line one-way, weekly, or monthly ticket.
MARC Train thanks LAZ Parking, the BWI Rail Station garage contractor, for their assistance in this matter.
A list of additional alternative transit options for Camden Line passengers with links to schedules can be found at www.mta.maryland.gov/marc-csx-strike-options (note that there is no longer a pending strike on CSX, but the web address is being kept active). WMATA buses always honor MARC weekly and monthly passes and Camden Line tickets are always cross-honored on the Penn Line.
