There will be a Penn Line schedule change on Monday, May 12.  Amtrak is beginning a trackwork project between Baltimore and Martin Airport, which requires changes to some trains.  In addition, other adjustments are being made in response to customer feedback and comment.

Please carefully review this schedule, as several trains depart earlier:

Morning service to Washington Union Station

  • Train 401 (4:15am departure from Penn Station) remains suspended due to Amtrak's overnight infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Train 403 (currently the 4:55am departure from Penn Station) will operate ten minutes earlier, departing at 4:45am.
  • Train 505 (4:25am departure from Perryville / 5:15am departure from Penn Station) will retain its current schedule Perryville - Martin Airport, but will depart all stations between Penn Station and Washington five minutes earlier.

Afternoon/evening service to Baltimore and Perryville

  • Train 428 (currently the 3:45pm departure from Union Station) will depart 5 minutes earlier at 3:40pm, will no longer stop at Seabrook, and will add stops at Halethorpe and West Baltimore.  This change is being made in response to customer requests to close a ninety minute gap in service at Halethorpe and West Baltimore.

Important information for northbound passengers at Halethorpe

Starting Monday, May 5 (before this new schedule takes effect), the track adjacent to the northbound platform at Halethorpe station will be removed from service by Amtrak for approximately six months for a maintenance project.  Temporary platform extensions will be installed.   This means that only a limited number of doors will be able to open at Halethorpe station on all northbound trains.  Passengers must listen carefully to conductor announcements about which doors will be open and only exit where you see a uniformed MARC Conductor.  If you do not see a Conductor at the door you are standing at, that door will not open at Halethorpe.

Other changes

  • Train 554 (currently 5:25am departure from Penn Station to Perryville) will depart five minutes later.
  • Train 502 (6:12am departure from Union Station) will retain its current schedule Washington - West Baltimore, then depart Penn Station five minutes later.
  • Train 520 (12:15pm departure from Union Station) will retain its current schedule Washington - West Baltimore, then depart Penn Station ten minutes later.
  • Only when operating on the "R" schedule, Train 430 (4:30pm departure from Union Station) will stop at Odenton

There are no changes to weekend service.

Printed copies of the new timetable are being produced at this time.  You can download a copy of the new schedule here: full timetable / weekday grid / weekend grid (the last two links are mobile device-friendly).  Carefully review the schedule to identify changes to the trains you ride.

Thank you for riding MARC Train.
