Winning Designs from Youth Ages 5 to 17 to Appear on Specially Wrapped Bus
BALTIMORE, MD (February 12, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration is now accepting submissions for its third annual Earth Day Art Competition. Youth across the state are encouraged to use their creativity, imagination and insight to submit artwork that highlights sustainability and how transit connects people to opportunity. The finalists’ artwork will be featured on a specially wrapped bus, transforming the buses into a moving display of their vision for a sustainable transit future. The deadline to submit artwork is March13.
"Creating a sustainable, equitable and inclusive public transit system for future generations can only be achieved by engaging our youth today," said Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold. "This competition provides an opportunity for youth to share their vision for creating a better transit system that moves Maryland forward."
In addition to the wrapped bus, the selected finalists’ pieces will be displayed in the Maryland State Department of Education Superintendent’s Student Gallery on Baltimore Street.

Over the first two years of the program, the Maryland Transit Administration has received more than 100 submissions from across the state with finalists representing Baltimore City, and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Montgomery, and Prince George’s counties.
