FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Service Enhancements on the QuickLink 40, CityLink Yellow and LocalLinks 34 and 63, 91 to Take Effect Sunday, August 24, 2025
BALTIMORE, MD (August 19, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration is releasing its Fall 2025 Service Changes to better align transit services with evolving rider needs and travel patterns. The changes will take effect Sunday, August 24, 2025, and focus on improving connections and reliability.
“We’re always looking at how to make riding transit easier and more convenient,” said Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold. “These service changes reflect our ongoing commitment to delivering a reliable and better-connected transit system.”
The service enhancements follow two virtual public hearings held in June and a 30-day public review and comment period. A summary of the Local Bus service enhancements are as follows.
- CityLink Yellow
Service on the route will now end at Guilford Avenue & Centre Street to improve reliability on the route’s southern portion. Service on the “northern half” of the CityLink Yellow will be incorporated into the LocalLink 91 with increases in service frequency.
- LocalLink 91
Incorporating the “northern half” of the CityLink Yellow, service on the route will now connect Downtown to Mondawmin. The extended LocalLink 91 provides another direct, one-seat connection to Downtown. Service between Mondawmin and Downtown will operate every 15 minutes on weekdays from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m., and every 20 minutes on weekends. Additionally, weekday service frequency between Sinai Hospital and Mondawmin will increase from 40 minutes to 30 minutes.
- QuickLink 40
change extends service to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on the western end of the route and Fox Ridge in Essex on the eastern for all trips. The extension will add additional limited-stop connections to Downtown from east and west. Service frequency will also increase with buses operating every 20 minutes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays and new weekend service every 20 minutes.
- LocalLink 34
The change extends service to the Catonsville Walmart to provide new connections from northwest of US-40 to retail options. Service frequency will also be improved to every 30 minutes from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- LocalLink 63
The change extends service for all trips to Gardenville to improve service between Gardenville and John Hopkins – Bayview.
- CityLink Navy
Due to construction on Dundalk Avenue, service along Dundalk Avenue east of Sollers Point Road in Watersedge will be temporarily paused. Regular CityLink Navy service will resume when the construction is completed.
- CityLink Navy, LocalLink 28, LocalLink 80, Express BusLink 103, Express BusLink154
Additional trips for each of these routes are being implemented to improve service and reduce crowding.
