MARYLAND TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION SPREADS HOLIDAY CHEER WITH ANNUAL HOLIDAY BUS AND TRAIN GARDEN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

45th Season of the Holiday Bus Delights Riders with Free Rides

BALTIMORE, MD (November 30, 2023) – The Maryland Transit Administration is delighted to announce the return of two beloved holiday traditions sure to bring cheer to Baltimore residents and visitors. The annual Holiday Bus will offer free rides weekdays from Monday, December 4, through Friday, December 22; and from Saturday, December 2 until the year’s end, the Maryland Transit Administration Train Garden at Mondawmin Metro Subway Station will charm visitors 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

“We’re excited to bring the annual tradition of our festive Holiday Bus and our beautiful Train Garden to the community,” said Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold. “These are both just small ways to thank our riders while adding a touch of magic to the holiday season.”

After kicking off the holiday season at the 50th annual Mayor’s Christmas Parade at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 3, the free Holiday Bus will operate on different CityLink and LocalLink bus routes weekdays until the Friday before Christmas. Passengers of all ages are invited to hop on board, receive a free candy cane and enjoy a free holiday music-filled ride to their destination.

The schedule and location of the Holiday Bus changes daily, but customers can track the Holiday Bus by looking for the sleigh icon on the Transit app, which provides real-time information for all fixed-route services. For clues on where the Holiday Bus will be located, customers can follow the Maryland Transit Administration on Facebook at facebook.com/mtamaryland, Instagram at instagram.com/mtamaryland and on Twitter @mtamaryland.

Situated on the Mezzanine Level of the Mondawmin Metro Subway Station and built by Maryland Transit Administration employees, the Train Garden is making its triumphant return in 2023 after a multi-year hiatus. The miniature, interactive attraction features a subway train that travels through a cityscape, neighborhoods, racetrack, fast-food restaurant and a fire station. Passengers can take part in the fun by pushing buttons that make objects inside the train garden come to life.

The Maryland Transit Administration is one of the largest multi-modal transit systems in the United States, and operates Local Bus, Commuter Bus, Light Rail, Metro Subway, MARC Train Service and a comprehensive Mobility paratransit system.
