Maryland Transit Administration Replacing Pedestrian Bridge at Rogers Avenue Metro Subway Station

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Station will Remain Open for Service, Construction Expected through Early 2024

BALTIMORE, MD (March 3, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration will begin construction Monday, March 6, to replace the pedestrian bridge at the Rogers Avenue Metro Subway Station. The bridge provides access to the station from the parking lot, and its replacement is part of the agency’s efforts to maintain its facilities in a state of good repair. Construction of the new bridge is scheduled to be complete in early 2024.

“The new pedestrian bridge at the Rogers Avenue Station will improve access to the Metro Subway for our riders,” said Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold. “Completion of this project is essential to maintain our system’s assets. We appreciate our customers’ patience while the work is underway.”

The Rogers Avenue Station will remain open for service throughout the bridge replacement project. During construction, the bus loading and off-loading areas will be relocated to the west side of the station. Riders are asked to follow pedestrian access signs to safely access the station and bus areas. Elevator and escalator access to the track platform also will be maintained.

The Maryland Transit Administration will continue to keep riders informed through signage at Metro Subway stations, platform announcements and updates via social media and e-alert notifications.
