BALTIMORE, MD (JULY 18, 2017) – If you’re heading to Artscape this weekend and want to avoid traffic congestion, street closures and the hassle of finding a place to park, let the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) get you there.
Artscape is America’s largest free arts festival, attracting more than 350,000 attendees over three days. This year’s festival – spanning Baltimore’s Arts & Entertainment District neighborhoods of Mt. Royal Avenue and Cathedral Street, Charles Street, Bolton Hill and Station North – will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 21, and Saturday, July 22, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 23. The event will feature hundreds of exhibits by fine artists, fashion designers, craftspeople, visual artists, sculptors and photographers. Here are the best transit options to Artscape:
Metro SubwayLink: Just steps away from Artscape is the State Center/Cultural Center Metro SubwayLink Station, open until midnight, seven days a week.
Light RailLink: The University of Baltimore/Mt. Royal Avenue Light RailLink Station is at the center of Artscape. The Cultural Center Light RailLink stop on Howard Street adjacent to the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall is also nearby. Light RailLink service begins at 6 a.m. Friday, 7 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday. Light RailLink operates until 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday with the last trains leaving Artscape one hour after the festival ends on Sunday, July 23.
MARC Train: MARC Train Penn Line Weekend Service will get you to Penn Station, which is at the center of the Artscape activities.
LocalLink: The closest MDOT MTA bus routes to Artscape are the CityLinks Gold, Green, Lime, Silver and Yellow, and LocalLinks 51, 53, 54 and 94. For more information on the new BaltimoreLink routes, visit BaltimoreLink.com for trip planning resources. Please be aware of bus diversions as well.
MobilityLink: MobilityLink service will operate on its regular schedule and have three convenient pickup and drop-off locations at Artscape:
- St. Paul at East Lanvale streets – Reserve trips to/from using “ARTSCAPE ST. PAUL”
- North Howard at Preston streets [NE Corner] – Reserve trips to/from using “ARTSCAPE HOWARD”
- McMechen Street at Mt. Royal Avenue – Reserve trips to/from using “ARTSCAPE MCMECHEN”
