MARC Penn Line schedules will change March 16, 2026 with the completion of a major Amtrak trackwork project in New Jersey. Amtrak will return to normal weekday service, which will require MARC Train to modify our schedules. Most schedules are going back to the times that were in effect before the February 16 - March 13 special interim schedule, but there are additional modifications.
Printed copies of the new timetable will be available next week. Passengers are strongly encouraged to download a PDF copy of the new timetable at the following links: full timetable / weekday grid / weekend grid (the grids are printer and mobile device friendly). Please carefully review train departure times, especially southbound morning trains to Washington -- many of them are operating EARLIER.
A full list of the March 16 changes is provided below. Please note that these changes are listed as compared to the previous full Penn Line schedule, NOT the February 16 interim timetable:
Weekday Southbound
- Train 407 will depart Penn Station five minutes EARLIER at 5:35am
- Train 613 will depart Martin Airport ten minutes EARLIER at 5:20am
- Train 511 will depart Perryville ten minutes EARLIER at 5:05am and Penn Station fifteen minutes EARLIER at 5:53am.
- See below for a more detailed discussion of the reasons for changes to Train 511.

- Changes to Train 511
- MARC Train understands customers' frustrations about the layover Train 511 experiences at Penn Station while two Amtrak trains pass it.
- Prior to January 2026, only one Amtrak train passed 511 at Penn Station
- Due to the Potomac River Bridge project south of Washington, there is now -- and will be for the next several years -- a second, later Amtrak train in the same time slot which is now operating an hour earlier than it used to.
- These trains continue on to Tidewater and Roanoke, Virginia and must depart Washington before 7:30am due to the construction project.
- Delays to Train 511 are common when one or both of these Amtrak trains are late. In addition, a delay to Train 511 has a domino effect on Trains 409 and 413, which are both slowed following a late 511.
- MARC Train worked with Amtrak's scheduling department to develop a new schedule for Train 511 that keeps it ahead of the Amtrak trains all the way into Washington, eliminating delays caused by the Amtrak trains and reducing journey time.
- 511 will still make the same stops (this train does not stop at Halethorpe, Bowie State University or Seabrook)
- We recognize that these changes require Train 511 to operate earlier, but the reliability of Train 511 should improve.
- Passengers traveling on Train 511 should plan to be on the platform prior to scheduled departure time. In order to stay ahead of the Amtrak trains, Train 511 will not be able to wait for late-arriving passengers and doors will close promptly at departure time from each station.
- MARC Train understands customers' frustrations about the layover Train 511 experiences at Penn Station while two Amtrak trains pass it.
Weekday northbound
- Train 554 will depart Baltimore fifteen minutes EARLIER at 5:15am.
- Train 502 will depart stops from BWI north to Perryville EARLIER, please review the new schedule.
- The Odenton stop on Train 404 at 7:09am is now an "L" stop, Train 404 may depart Odenton up to 5 minutes early.
- Train 422 will depart Washington five minutes EARLIER at 1:05pm
- As promised when the interim schedule was published, the West Baltimore stop is restored to Train 634. We appreciate our passengers' patience during the interim schedule and regret any inconvenience this change caused.
- Train 544 will depart stops from Halethorpe north to Perryville EARLIER, please review the new schedule
There are no changes to weekend service. However, there are several large events planned in Washington and Baltimore during Spring and Summer 2026. Please check the MARC Penn Line page on the MTA website prior to traveling on MARC Weekend Service. Train schedules may be modified, and additional service may be offered. In addition, important information – including carry-on items and bicycle restrictions -- may be in place for busy weekends. Know before you go!
