Baltimore Water Main Break, Recovery Prompts Partial Light RailLink Suspension of Service

Free Bus Bridge Will Transport Passengers Between Closed Stations

BALTIMORE, MD (July 11, 2019) -- As a result of the water main break in downtown Baltimore near Pratt and Howard Streets, and associated road closures, the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) has temporarily suspended Light RailLink service between the Camden and North Avenue stops. A free bus bridge is in place to accommodate passengers.

“The safety of our riders is our first priority.” said MDOT MTA Chief Operations Officer Sean Adgerson. “We look forward to the Baltimore City Department of Public Works promptly completing these repairs, so we can restore full service quickly and minimize the impact on our riders.”

The Baltimore City DPW has not yet determined a timeframe to complete water main repairs. MDOT MTA will continue communicating updates to customers via social media, the MDOT MTA website and e-alerts. Signage has been placed at each affected stop and Transit Ambassadors are available to help individual passengers plan their route. MDOT MTA appreciates our riders’ patience during this time.

MDOT MTA is one of the largest multi-modal transit systems in the United States. MDOT MTA operates LocalLink and commuter buses, Light RailLink, Metro SubwayLink, Maryland Area Regional Commuter (MARC) Train service and a comprehensive Mobility (paratransit) system. MDOT MTA’s goal is to provide safe, efficient and reliable transit across Maryland with world-class customer service.
