Description:

Unscheduled, emergency Amtrak trackwork continues on the Penn Line between BWI and West Baltimore. Amtrak worked through the night to put temporary high level platforms in service at BWI and Halethorpe stations that permit fully accessible boarding and detraining on the regular platforms. Trains may experience minor (5-10 minute) delays due to one of three tracks being out of service. All trains will make their scheduled stops today.

Passengers who are detraining at BWI or Halethorpe must carefully listen to announcements as only one or two sets of doors will open at these stations. Passengers boarding northbound trains at BWI and Halethorpe should wait on the concrete platform until the train comes to a complete stop and you are directed by the Conductor to enter the temporary platform.

Amtrak estimates that this unscheduled trackwork will take 10 to 12 days to complete -- updates will be provided as information is received from Amtrak. We regret any inconvenience and thank you for your patience as Amtrak conducts this necessary work. We also regret any inconvenience experienced due to the extensive delays and train cancellations yesterday evening. In addition to the trackwork, there was a police activity situation between Halethorpe and West Baltimore that stopped all Amtrak and MARC service for over 90 minutes.
