Description:

(corrected end date and Train 443 information)

Amtrak has notified MARC Train that they will be extending the trackwork project in the tunnel between West Baltimore and Penn Station through Friday, November 20. This will result in one of two tracks being out of service during this time.

Amtrak is continuing to take advantage of reduced train schedules and ridership during the coronavirus pandemic to perform major repairs in the tunnel, specifically the drainage system and concrete trackbed. These repairs will result in a smoother ride for MARC passengers and, more importantly, improved reliability of the track which will reduce delays.

During this project, only one train in either direction will be able to pass through the tunnel at a time. MARC Penn Line trains may experience delays of 5-10 minutes between West Baltimore and Penn Station while waiting for other trains to pass.

In addition, Train 443 (4:52pm departure from Penn Station) will be cancelled through Friday, October 30. Passengers will be accommodated on Trains 641 and 445 (4:18 and 5:35pm departures from Penn Station). Please note, however, that Train 443 *will* operate on Monday, October 12 (Columbus Day) and it will resume regular operation on Monday, November 2.

We regret any inconvenience these delays may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as Amtrak performs critical maintenance on their infrastructure.
