Description:

The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) Connected and Automated Parking Feasibility Pilot will begin Phase II testing at Dorsey Run MARC Train Station on Monday, January 20th 2020. This pilot program will test "Automated Valet Parking" (AVP) technology developed by STEER Tech.

MDOT MTA successfully completed Phase I (closed-course testing) in October. Phase II testing will consist of mixed-traffic testing during off-peak hours, and mixed-traffic testing during peak hours. Signage will be posted at the Dorsey MARC Station and parking lot to indicate the specific testing locations. Phase II testing is expected to last until March 2020.

Drivers and their vehicles in the testing area should continue to drive safely and normally, and pedestrians should continue to observe personal caution and proceed safely as in any other environment.

In the mixed-use testing at the Dorsey MARC Station, the clearly marked automated STEER Tech cars will operate like regular vehicles around traffic, traditional driver-operated vehicles and pedestrians. STEER Tech operators will remain in the vehicles during testing.

Throughout the Pilot Program, MDOT MTA will be collecting surveys gauging passenger awareness and experience with AVP technology. Please contact MARC Customer Service at 1-800-325-7245 for specific questions or concerns. For more information on AVP technology, please visit www.steer-tech.com
