Description:

The weather forecast for the MARC Train service area over the next several days calls for high temperatures approaching 100 degrees and heat index readings over 110. We encourage all MARC Train passengers to take care in this extreme weather to avoid dehydration and other heat-related illnesses. We encourage everyone to stay hydrated and carry water for their personal use-- be aware of your personal needs and prepare in advance.

MARC Train is prepared to operate trains in these conditions, however, passengers should note that there will be heat-related speed restrictions on all three rail lines. This will cause minor delays on all trains. More information on heat restrictions is available at www.mta.maryland.gov/marc-heat-orders. Extreme heat can also cause problems with tracks on all lines and, on the Penn Line, the overhead electrical wires. Safety is the top priority of MARC, Amtrak, Bombardier and CSX Transportation and we will always take the safety course of action – even if it results in delays.

Thank you for riding MARC Train.
