There will be a MARC Penn Line schedule changed effective Monday, November 11.  Amtrak trackwork in the MARC Train service area will be completed for 2019.  We thank you for your patience as Amtrak completed this necessary work.  We anticipate that this schedule will be in effect until Spring 2020.

Download a copy of the new schedule here: full timetable / weekday grid / weekend grid (the second two links are mobile device-friendly). Paper copies will be available in stations early next week. Carefully review the schedule to identify changes to the trains you ride. Specific details about changes are listed below, as well as some "Frequently Asked Questions" about the new schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

We asked this before -- why is there another schedule change?  We just changed schedules on August 5 and September 23!

Amtrak Acela and Regional schedules are changing again, which requires MARC to change our schedules.  We recognize that frequent schedule changes are inconvenient and we thank you for your patience.

How long will this schedule be in effect?

We anticipate this schedule will be in effect until Spring 2020, when the next round of Amtrak trackwork will begin.

Why is Train 532 continuing to depart Washington at 4:17pm, but not depart Baltimore earlier for points north?

Train 532 must depart Washington no later than 4:17pm due to the new non-stop Acela train, which departs Washington at 4:30pm  Train 532 must leave Washington with enough time to stop at New Carrollton and switch to the northbound track between New Carrollton and Seabrook for the Acela Non-Stop to pass.  Train 532 must also wait for the 5:00 Acela departure from Washington to pass prior to the Gunpowder River Bridge (between Martin Airport and Edgewood).  At customer request, dwell time was taken out at Penn Station to permit an earlier arrival at Martin Airport station. The train is scheduled to hold 10-12 minutes for the Acela to pass.

Why is Train 536 continuing to skip West Baltimore?

Train 536 has been performing well and staying ahead of the 6:00pm Acela all the way to Perryville. In order to continue this performance, Train 438 will continue to stop at West Baltimore, which maintains a 5:00pm-hour express/limited stop train from Washington to West Baltimore.
