Light RailLink Track Maintenance to Begin March 15 at Timonium Fairgrounds and Gilroy Road Stops

BALTIMORE, MD (MARCH 6, 2019) –The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will begin planned Light RailLink track maintenance on March 15, 2019, at the Timonium Fairgrounds and Gilroy Road stops. In addition to track repairs, MDOT MTA will also make improvements to the pedestrian walkways, which allow access to the northbound and southbound tracks. The repairs will begin on March 15 and continue through April 8, with most of the work restricted to weekends.

 

“MDOT MTA recognizes the critical importance transit has for its riders and is making every effort to minimize disruption to its passengers’ commute during this rail work,” said MDOT MTA Administrator Kevin Quinn. “We are making every effort to complete work promptly and will keep our customers informed of our progress.”

 

Light RailLink closures at the Timonium Fairgrounds stop will be between 8 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Tuesday on March 15-19 and March 22-26.

 

Closures at the Gilroy Road stop will be between 8 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Monday on March 29-April 1 and April 5-8.

 

To accommodate riders during construction, MDOT MTA will provide bus bridges from the Timonium Fairgrounds and Gilroy Road stops. There also will be: signage at each stop; transit ambassadors to help passengers plan their route; and updates via social media, the MDOT MTA website and e-alert notification system.
